If you’d like to get in step with some of the best professionals in Bristol there’s plenty of opportunities in the area.
The Bristol Dance Centre [map] can be found at Jacobs Wells Road, and offers a massive range of dance courses to suit every ability. If you have a passion for contemporary dance, or if you want to learn advanced technical skills, or even want to build confidence in your own choreography, then you’ll find what you’re looking for here. There’s also a range of ballet classes for everyone from young beginners to older people who just want to keep fit and active. Add to this a dash of swing, jazz and flamenco and you’ve got an extremely eclectic range of dancing to choose from.
Those who want to relive their youth or love the music of the 1950s and 1960s will have great fun at Lindy Hop classes, which are held at the Elmgrove Centre in Cotham. Experienced dance duo, Hoppin’ Mad will lead you through all the steps guaranteed to make you a wow on the dance floor.
Equally energetic and just as much fun is LeRoc, a modern version of traditional jiving. Grab a partner (or be paired up when you arrive) and head to Clifton where you’ll find John, Jacqui, Hilary and Nick who have been spreading this French-inspired dance across the area, and picking up a strong following too.
See the experts in action at the the Bristol Hippodrome [map] on St Augustines Parade, which hosts a range of dance shows from performances by the English National Ballet to the latest musical direct from the West End of London.
