Comedy In Brighton |
 |
 |
Brighton may not have as many comedy venues as you’d expect
for the south coast’s premier entertainment city, but there’s
still plenty of laughing action to be had.
The city’s main venue for stand-up comedy is the Beck’s
Krater Comedy Club [map],
which takes place every Saturday and Sunday evening at Komedia in
the North Laine district. This popular haunt presents a line-up of
established and new comedians, and you can also enjoy a pre-show meal
here at the Curve restaurant on the ground floor.
Also located in the funky North Laine area is the Corn Exchange,
which is part of the Brighton Dome Complex [map]
and plays host to theatre, conferences and sport and the occasional
comedy night.
For a dose of local comedy check out Akamedia [map]
in Kemp Town, a live performance venue run by students from the University
of Brighton.
Brighton also has its own annual Comedy Festival, which usually
takes place in October at a number of venues around the city, including
the Pavilion Theatre, the Corn Exchange and the Dome Concert Hall.
Among the huge array of comedians that have performed at the event
are Ed Byrne, Rebecca Carrington and Alun Cochrane.
