Budget Accommodation in Brighton |
 |
 |
Staying in Brighton doesn’t
have to cost the earth as there is a great choice of budget hotels,
hostels and even a campsite where you can get a good night’s
sleep for next to nothing.
For a start there is the renowned Brighton Backpackers [map],
a cheerful hostel located in the heart of The Lanes - a maze of alleys
full of shops and cafes. At Brighton Backpackers you’ll find
the usual dormitory-style accommodation, complete with a common
room that is open all night that boasts a pool table, music system
and computer to surf the Internet. There is also a shared kitchen
available on site and a choice of rooms including dorms with en suite
bathrooms and double rooms.
Brighton also has its own YHA Youth Hostel [map],
which is housed in a wonderful Queen Anne mansion on London Road,
four miles north of the sea. It is on a well used bus route into the
city centre and is close to local amenities and entertainment venues.
For a hostel with a more homely feel try Baggies Backpackers [map]
on Oriental Place, which is a spacious house close to
the West Pier that has large bright dorms and decent showers.
If you want all the comforts of a prestigious hotel without paying
an arm and a leg for the privilege, book your room at The Brighton
Hotel [map].
This place offers good value accommodation within easy reach
of the city centre and has brilliant views of the sea. The beach is
just across the road and many seafront restaurants are nearby. In
addition, the hotel has a few little luxuries on offer, such as four-poster
beds, waterbeds, and a lift.
For those of you who are on a very tight budget there is always the
Sheepcote Valley Caravan and Camping Park [map],
Brighton’s only campsite. Run by The Caravan Club of Great Brighton,
this site has good clean facilities and is only a 15-minute walk from
Brighton Marina and 30 minutes from the city centre. You can keep
stocked up on barbecue food at the Lidl supermarket a few minutes
away, or at the Asda at the Marina, where you'll aslo find plenty
of restaurants if you fancy a night off from the cooking.
