Blackpool doesn't have
its own university but Blackpool and The Fylde College [map]
has been an associate college of Lancaster University [map]
for more than a decade.
This status helps the college, which is also a partner school of the
University of Central Lancashire [map],
to retain its place as one of the UK’s top centres for education.
The college, which is the only college in Lancashire to be awarded
both Beacon of Excellence and Accredited College status, currently
has some 4,000 full-time and 17,000 part-time students, including
many international students from more than 35 different countries.
There are four main campuses located across the Fylde Coast,
each with its own specialties, along with some excellent sporting
and recreation facilities, including two sports halls, a gym, and
an all-weather floodlit pitch.
Other college facilities include a travel agency, a hair and beauty
salon, two shops, numerous snack bars and refectories and two restaurants,
where you can enjoy food prepared by the catering students.
As an associate college, Blackpool and The Fylde offers a number of
degree courses accredited by Lancaster University, such as
BA Business Administration, BA (Hons) Hospitality Management, BA (Hons)
Photography, and new in 2004, BA (Hons) International Resort Tourism.
You could also study A-levels, University Foundation Course and HND
courses in subjects such as business, construction and fine art.
The college also has courses accredited by the University of Central
Lancashire, including the Health Care University Certificate and BA
International Studies.
