| If you’re a
keen golfer then make the most of your trip to Blackpool by heading
to one of the top golf courses in and around the town.
Set among 236 acres of parkland, De Vere Herons’ Reach
[map]
offers a USGA specification golf course designed by Peter Alliss
and Clive Clark. The par 72, 18-hole course has 10 lakes that
provide a challenge to golfers of all levels, while the grounds
also consist of an 18-bay floodlit driving range, pitching
green, putting green, shop and Spike Bar for drinks and meals.
The golf facilities here are part of the four-star hotel and leisure
resort, which offers the ideal golfing break in the Britain’s
favourite holiday town.
Located on the A587 just behind the North Promenade, North Shore
Golf Club [map]
provides an 18-hole, 71-par course over undulating parkland. Visiting
golfers are welcome here every day except Thursdays and Saturdays,
and there's also a restaurant in the club where you can celebrate
or commiserate your round.
You could also try Fleetwood Golf Club [map],
which is situated on the Fylde Coast eight miles from Blackpool
town centre. The 18-hole white course is 6,557 yards with a par

are welcome on weekdays.
For a scenic riverside course head to Knott End Golf Club

which has an 18-hole, par 68, course and a practice ground.
Although the courses mentioned above are all privately owned there
are a couple of public courses in Blackpool, which are perfect for
the casual golfer.
Poulton-le-Fylde Golf Club [map])
offers a parkland 12-hole, par 45, course, along with practice and
putting facilities, while the council-run Stanley Park Golf Course
[map]
has 18 holes. This course, which was designed by the famous
Dr Alistair McKenzie, was opened in 1926, and has been well maintained
ever since. Lessons are available from the resident professional.
Heading further out of Blackpool to Lytham St Annes, you’ll
find the seaside championship links course at Royal Lytham
