Business Travel in Blackpool |
 |
 |
With beautiful views
and plenty of pubs, clubs, casinos and restaurants, a business trip
to Blackpool is far from dull. In fact, you’ll probably be reluctant
to return to the office!
In terms of business travellers getting there, Blackpool is well connected
with its own airport. Blackpool Airport [map],
which is just two miles from the town centre, has regular daily flights
a day to and from London, Dublin and Belfast.
Blackpool also has good road and rail links from other English cities,
with the M55 (accessible off the M6) leading right into the
central tourist and business area. There are also regular trains from
Liverpool, Manchester and Preston, where you can get connections from
London.
Once you arrive in the sunny seaside town, you will find there are
a number of business and conference facilities that should meet your
needs.
The main place to hold conferences, lunch parties and exhibitions
is the famous Winter Gardens [map]
on Church Street, which is home to Europe’s second largest
theatre as well as 12 other self-contained venues.
Perhaps the most grandeur suite is the breathtaking Ballroom [map].
Created in 1896 it boasts 12 glass chandeliers, a parquet floor and
exquisite décor. This place has provided the backdrop for some
of British history's most famous party political speeches, such as
William Hague's passionate display as a 16-year-old and former American
President Bill Clinton's presentation at the 2002 Labour Party Conference.
Another options is the Spanish Hall Suite [map],
an art deco venue with its own bar and entrance. The suite consists
of four rooms, the Spanish Hall, the Baronial Hall, the Renaissance
Room and the Windsor Bar.
For a smaller function why not hire The Arena [map]
, which can cater for up to 600 delegates making it perfect
for an exhibition or even a grand office party. The Horseshoe
[map]
makes another good setting for an exhibition or conference,
while the Pavilion can welcome 700 guests for a reception.
Finally the Winter Gardens is also home to Olympia, 2,600 square
metres of space mainly used for antique and other fairs.
Situated on the outskirts of Blackpool Central, the De Vere Herons'
Reach Hotel [map]
is another ideal setting for corporate events, with everything from
an intimate business dinner to 600-delegate conference being catered
for.
The hotel has plenty of other facilities to help your business trip
tick over nicely including, meeting rooms, photocopying, fax, flip
charts, Internet access, scanning, TV and video hire and a dedicated
business support centre.
Of course, you’ll need somewhere to stay during your trip and
there are few places in the North that can match up to the De Vere’s
standards. With excellent leisure facilities including a swimming
pool, steam room, sauna, Jacuzzi, and an 18-hole golf course, this
place is great for those looking to relax and unwind after a hard
day at work.
Another hotel that offers some of the best business facilities in
the North, along with comfortable rooms to ensure you get a good night’s
sleep, is the Hilton Blackpool [map].
All the bedrooms here come with en suite bathroom, telephone, tea/coffee
making facilities, satellite TV and hairdryer. There are even swanky
suites available for the big bosses!
In addition the Hilton also has a free car park, indoor heated swimming
pool, sauna, steam room, restaurant, cocktail bar and a nightclub,
so after work you don’t even need to leave the building to have
a good time.
Business travellers should also make the most of Blackpool’s
buzzing nightlife by checking out the many bars,
clubs and casinos in town.
As for high-class eateries to impress
a prospective client, head to the September Brasserie [map]
on Queen Street or White Tower [map]
in the Pleasure Beach complex.
