Birmingham’s Central

is located at Chamberlain Square, and is open to all members of the
public.
If you live, work or study in Birmingham you can sign up for a library
ticket that will enable you to borrow books, CDs and videos. Borrowing
books free and you can borrow up to eight books, eight music CDs and
three DVDs or videos at any one time.
You can keep books and talking books for up to four weeks and music
CDs for up to two weeks. However, videos and DVDs have limited borrowing
time ranging from two nights for the latest releases to seven nights
for the rest.
Your PIN (Personal Identification Number) and ticket number will give
you access to the self-service facilities on the library catalogue
and on the Internet.
You can renew most items up to a maximum of three times either in
person, over the phone or online. Failure to renew or return your
items to the library can result in a fine unless you are less than
18 years of age.
If your card is lost or stolen you should contact the library staff
as soon as possible to get a new card. There is a charge for a replacement
ticket and you need to show proof of address before the card can be
issued.
If you would like to suggest a book or video for borrowing you should
use the Stock Suggestion facility in the library.
The opening hours of most Birmingham libraries are subject to change
but many don’t open at lunchtimes or on Wednesdays. The libraries
are however, open on Saturdays, which is a particularly popular day
for families and people who work during the week. |
