Budget Restaurants in Birmingham |

If you’re looking
for a great place to eat in Birmingham you don’t have to go
for a Michelin starred restaurant to be sure of getting a really tasty
and hearty meal, there's plenty of great value venues to grab a delicious
meal or snack.
Every Birmingham citizen worth their salt knows that one of the very
best places to grab an extra-value meal is a Balti restaurant.
Birmingham is known as the capital of the Balti and this is largely
due to its large Kashmiri population.
Balti literally means “bucket” and so as you’d expect
you’ll certainly get value for money. However, this doesn’t
mean that there’s any spices spared and the delicate flavour
certainly comes through.
Some of the best Balti houses include The Dilshad [map],
Bristol Road, Selly Oak, and The Balti Hut Tandoori [map],
Pershore Road, Stirchley.
If you’re eating on the run there are plenty of fantastic sandwich
shops in the area and you’ll be able to enjoy lots of fast food
including as many McDonalds and Burger Kings as your heart desires.
Hare Of The Dog [map],
Franchise Street, is one of those It’s A Scream pubs that serves
a hearty meal at a great price. Particularly popular with students
and those looking for somewhere to chill out and socialise on a weekend,
Hare Of The Dog also has some excellent drinks offers during the week.
Those looking for a top quality carvery should head to The White
Swan [map],
Harborne Road, which is great value and a really lovely environment
to boot. Enjoy a traditional roast dinner at an exceptional price
or choose the equally cheap vegetarian option. The Anchor
[map],
Bradford Street, Digbeth, is a traditional and friendly pub that offers
a range of cheap and cheerful pub grub. Choose from a menu that includes
an all-day breakfast, a quarter roast chicken, and a range of good
quality classic sandwiches.
If you can afford to push the boat out slightly you’ll find
a warm welcome awaits at The Ambiance Restaurant [map]
, The Pepper Mill, Coventry Road, Coleshill.
This laidback and comfortable pub is a small and intimate venue that
just falls short of the “gastro-pub” tag. There’s
still a range of tempting cuisine on offer though including flat field
mushrooms in garlic, avocado with shrimp, poached chicken breast and
a large selection of desserts.
If you can afford it you’ll find an extensive wine list and
you might also catch the odd alcohol offer too.
