Bimingham is located
at the centre of the UK and therefore at the heart of the motorway
network. There’s easy access across the city via the M5, M6,
M40, M42 and M54.
Getting around Birmingham in the car is easy, but there is a one
way system in operation throughout the city centre and The Bull
Ring.
Parking on the street in Birmingham City Centre, the Gun Quarter [map]
and the Jewellery Quarter [map]
is divided into four zones. All zones are operated on the Pay and
Display system using ticket issuing machines. On arrival at a
parking area, which is marked at either end by a sign, a ticket must
be purchased from a machine and be displayed in the front windscreen
of the vehicle at the side nearest the pavement.
The operational hours for all parking zones are between 8:00am
to 6:00pm Mondays to Saturdays. Motorists are required to pay
the appropriate fee between these hours. Details of charges are indicated
on the front of each machine.
Parking is limited to a maximum stay of up to two hours in
the inner zone and up to four hours in the outer zone, the Jewellery
Quarter Zone and the Gun Quarter Zone.
Motorists are strongly advised to consult the plate on the machine
for exact details of charges and hours which vary between zones.
Motorists should remember that where ticket machines are in use it
is an offence to park without displaying a valid ticket. A penalty
charge notice may be issued where no valid ticket is displayed
or for overstaying the period of time purchased.
The parking attendants also enforce the yellow line restrictions
in Birmingham. If vehicles are found parked contravening the yellow
line restrictions they may be issued with a penalty charge notice.
If you’re worried about the safety of your car and don’t
want to risk street parking there are more than 50 mult-storey
or single storey car parks in and around the city centre.
