Birmingham’s main
bus station is located at Digbeth [map],
Digbeth High Street, and is a major coach and bus station serving
travellers coming to Birmingham and those travelling from Edinburgh
to London.
Plans are afoot to change the site of the station but nothing is set
in stone yet. However, the station has undergone a number of improvements
in recent years and visitors will find some good facilities here.
The station is ten minutes walk from the main New Street shopping
area, and there are good bus connections from the station to the
rest of the city.
The station can be reached from Digbeth High Street [map]
and is 20 minutes from the popular Broad Street area and
the Bullring [map].
Birmingham’s main railway station, New Street [map],
is 20 minute walk away but buses between the two stations are
frequent.
You can also catch a Travel West Midlands 900 service bus which
runs to Birmingham International Airport [map].
Station facilities at Digbeth include a National Express booking
and information office, a café, shops selling newspapers and
plenty of seats in the waiting area.
The waiting area is also the place to find pay toilets, but it's worth
remembering that there are no free public conveniences in this area.
During late night departures you should be aware that these facilities
may be severely limited. There is a security presence but it's worth
exercising caution if travelling alone.
