Takeaway in Belfast |
 |
 |
Belfast isn’t overrun
with takeaways, but the ones that it does have are a cut above the
run-of-the-mill takeaway in other parts of the UK.
There’s a real diversity in the variety of food on offer and
it’s a real excuse for putting your feet up and letting someone
else do the hard work for you.
Start your adventure into Belfast takeaways with a touch of Oriental
inspiration at Abacus [map],
Stransmillis Road. This Cantonese takeaway and restaurant, set on
the margins of Stranmillis Village, is always incredibly busy because
it is extremely popular with locals (as well as the Chinese community).
With more than 200 dishes on the menu, the choice is impressive.
You can choose from favourites such as beef, chicken, pork, king prawn,
duck, chow mein, and egg foo yung dishes, and more unusual dishes
like broccoli and mapo sauce, Malaysian curry, or aubergine and black
bean sauce dishes. You can also take all of the hassle out of getting
your meal and go for the delivery option.
Another top Chinese takeaway can be found in Pak Lok [map]
on Lisburn Road. With welcoming staff who are always on hand
to offer advice about which dishes compliment each other and the particular
specials of the day, Pak Lok is a popular place to eat that is keen
to introduce Belfast citizens to more unusual aspects of Chinese cuisine.
Specialities are Szechuan and Cantonese dishes but you can try something
completely different here such as king prawn with sweet corn, mushrooms
and peppers or something from the staggering selection of black bean
dishes. Bithika Tandoori [map],
Lisburn Road, starts serving at 5:00pm which should impress those
in serious need of a curry straight after work! This takeaway has
a large menu including kebabs, tandoori specialities, tikka dishes,
biriyani and vegetarian dishes and all are very reasonably priced.
Make sure you don't eat too much during the day to completely enjoy
your takeaway experience as dishes are extremely plentiful and one
portion usually provides enough for two hungry adults.
If all these don’t tempt you, perhaps it’s time to check
out the ultimate in fast and convenient takeaway food and head to
Pizza Hut [map]
to take away one of this venue's speciality meat feasts or stuffed
crust options. You’ll find Belfast’s Pizza Hut at Dublin
Road.
