Live Music in Belfast |
 |
 |
If you're looking for live music in Belfast you shouldn't be disappointed
as the city has plenty of venues where you can find traditional Irish
music as well as the Odyssey Arena [map]
for more mainstream live acts.
Located on Queens Quay, the Odyssey Arena is a part of a purpose built
entertainment venue, where you can watch chart favourites working
their magic on a capacity 10.000-strong army of fans. It is Northern
Ireland's biggest indoor venue and a landmark millenium project
in the area.
But if you like pure live music you’ll find plenty of pubs in
Belfast that cater for your needs. Even better if you happen to be
a fan of the traditional folk tunes that have evolved in the area
for thousands of years.
Folk fans should make their first port of call Robinson’s
Bar [map],
Great Victoria Street, which showcases some of the top folk and rock
bands in the area and further a field. The programme has included
Dirkin, Blackstaff and Brier.
You can hear folk and Irish music at McHughs Bar [map],
Queens Square, and at The Springhill Bar [map],
Causeway Street, Portrush, where the audience have the opportunity
to join in.
The Empire Bar & Music Hall [map],
Botanic Avenue, hosts a selection of great acoustic and alternative
music from the likes of Lambchop and also some great cover bands.
The Menagerie [map],
University Street, is a great chilled out place for a pint but also
hosts some cracking music if you like your beats formed with global
inspiration. Menagerie World of Music is held every Thursday when
you’ll hear some funky live music from across the planet.
