Dance in Belfast |

 |
Don’t people in Northern Ireland like to dance? Don’t
their feet start tapping when they hear a good tune? Don’t they
sometimes feel the beat rising in their chests and long to take to
the dance floor? Of course. But sadly there’s not that much
out there for twinkled toed citizens of Belfast.
But there’s definitely the smell of revolution in the air and
perhaps these organisations are set to lead it. Crescent
Arts Centre [map],
University Road, hosts live music and offers the opportunity to dance
around like a mad thing on the first Saturday of every month.
Why not spice up your life and enjoy some Latin rhythms at a local
Salsa class. Check out SalsaBelfast
for all the latest information on salsa events in Belfast and
a list of classes in the area. Alternatively there's Salsa
NI where professional dance instructor Chris Scullion is on hand
to take you through your paces with classes being held at a variety
of venues on a mostly lunchtime basis.
Salsa NI is also responsible for Northern Ireland’s only professional
Latin American dance troup, who can be booked for shows and
galas.
You simply cannot talk about dance in Belfast without mentioning one
of its finest and most vocal supporters: Dance
NI.
This organisation exists to promote all forms of dance throughout
Northern Ireland and uses education, performance and participation
to spread the word. From hosting summer schools to salsa workshops
there’s always something happening at Dance NI, who host regular
events in venues across Belfast.
