Shopping in Aberdeen
|| Aberdeen’s main
shopping district lies right in the heart of the city centre around
Union Street, where you find large department stores, such as Debenhams,
Marks and Spencer and the family-run Esslemont and MacIntosh store
– and that’s just for starters.
The Granite City also boasts five shopping centres; the award-winning
Bon Accord Centre [map],
the smaller St Nicholas Centre [map],
the recently renovated Trinity Centre [map],
the ultra-modern Academy [map]
and the trendy Galleria [map]. Together
these shopping malls are home to an array of designer, high street
and independent stores, including AB10, Ottakers, M2, Holland and
Barrett, and Littlewoods.
Aberdeen also has its own indoor Market Hall [map],
where you can bag a bargain from one of the many stalls, selling everything
from clothes to fruit and veg.
In addition to this, Belmont Street transforms into a grand outdoor
market on the last Saturday of each month when the Aberdeen Country
Fair comes to town. Pay a visit between 9:00am and 5:00pm and
you’ll find everything from handcrafted jewellery to farm fresh
If you would prefer to see some of Aberdeen premier craftsmen and
women in action then why not head out of the city centre to one of
the surrounding towns and villages, where you can pick up some great
one-off souvenirs to take home with you.
