GO Libraries in Aberdeen

Libraries in Aberdeen There are a number of local libraries in Aberdeen, which all offer residents, visitors and traders a wealth of information, books, videos and Internet access.

To make the most of the facilities you need to be a member of the library service and to join you must live, work or study in Aberdeen. Becoming a member is easy though, all you need to do is pop into your nearest library with two forms of identification (i.e. a passport and driving licence) and you’ll receive your membership card.

Situated at Rosemount Viaduct, Aberdeen Central Library [map] is the city’s main library, which has a number of departments including a children’s section.

This library has thousands of books for hire, along with numerous videos, CDs, DVDs and audio books. There are also a number of computers that can be used for word processing spread sheets, email and Internet access.

Also, located on the first floor of the library you’ll find the Reference and Local Studies Department, where you can look at documents to uncover Aberdeen’s history or research your family tree.

There is also a Business and Technical Library within the walls of the main library, which is home to an extensive collection of material on the oil and gas industries, particularly the North Sea sector.
